Letter writing is archaic and should not be taught any more.

Letter writing has been around for a long time and might be considered pretty archaic, however it is not useless. Written letters are important because often times a hard copy is necessary for organization and the letter might draw more attention from the receiver than an email or phone call. Letters are also used in a formal setting for many reasons including requests, recommendations or for something as simple as sending thanks.

It is useful knowledge for students to take in because they will use it at some point in their career. It will help in a professional setting to know ahead of time how to write a letter. A written letter will always be an important way to communicate in a precise, professional manner.
